I am putting the Company Commanders page up on the website tonight. It is still not very complete but it is a fair start. Keep posting them here if you know of any others not mentioned yet.

Hey there Terence.

Glad you found us here. I just added some new pictures from my collection to the 170th Tribute Website today, including two of you from our time in Honduras. Stop over there and check them out (a link to the website is on the right side of this page).

We would love to see your photos too. If you send them in I would post them to the website. Thanks for spreading the word.

knick,

These photos are great. I think those same guys were working in the mess hall when I was there 6 years later. I think it is interesting that the Air Foce SP's in the platoon picture had BDU's before the Army guys did (like they needed the cammo for all of the field exercises they went on).

There was a town near Macora? I don't really remember anything but a few shacks scattered about near there. I pulled up a map of Hondo, but Macora wasn't even on it. None of the other town names near that area seemed familiar to me.

Jon,
When we go there to sign up, it asks for a member number from the person that refers us, in order to give you credit for the referal. If you want credit for referals, list your number here.

Speaking of T-shirts, does anyone else still have this classic in their collection? I have had this one packed away in a trunk for the last 15 years.

Looking for John Matusz formerly of Staten Island, NY. Also looking for Scott Robedeau formerly of Toledo, OH. Anybody have any current info on these guys?

Jeff Steltenpohl once told me that he spoke with Morgan a few years back and he was an E-6 Desk Sgt at the time. The way time flies, that could have been 5 years ago, 8 years ago, I don't know. But it was the last time I heard mention of him.

Hey James, glad you could join us. You are just as funny as I remember. Do you remember that trip that you and I made out to Yakima in the Fort Lewis patrol car? Every time I eat a bag of cherries I think of that trip. Good times. I would love to catch up. Send me an email, brother.

I cleared Fort Lewis the same time as James. I do not remember ever hearing him mention Indiana.

Hello Cole. I was wondering if you have contact with James Dunovant. He also moved to Myrtle Beach, SC after ETS.

I have searched for Mike, but haven't found him yet. I have not spoke with Raquel yet but I think that I have found a good address for her, and she is not that far away from you. I will send you the contact info I have for her in a private message or email.

Hello Ray, good to hear from you.

I thought that those two deployments were done by the 504th MP BN only. I could not remember if they took 170th people with them on those trips. I was leaving the company around that time too, so I guess that I was not paying that much attention either.

Just so you all know, I am updating the list at the website everytime someone gives up some new information, so I will get these added as well.

Ray, I wrote to a few of those guys you mentioned already to tell them about this project. Be sure to pass the word on to the rest of them when you speak with them.

Re: A few names I was looking for?

September 18, 2008 by mashmo

Not too many people have been located from that time frame (1998) yet. We basically started at the early 90's and are working our way out, both ways, as names are mentioned. We would need the first names of these guys if you would like us to try to seach for them.

Re: The complete list

Dux, I think you are talking about Capt Brown. She was the only female C.O. of the company as far as I know. Trainor was a guy and he did not get there until 1990.

Re: Who was your Commander while at the 170th?

September 11, 2008 by mashmo

I got a letter yesterday from Thomas Banasik. He was the first Commander of the 170th after the move from the Presidio to Fort Lewis in 1984 (7/84-9/85). He is now a Colonel, getting ready to retire in a few months.

Who was your 1SG while you were at the 170th?

September 9, 2008 by mashmo

We are also now going to work on a 1SG list to add to the unit history section of the blog. The only 1SG I can recall from when I was with the 170th was Lynden Aitken. He was there in 1991 and / or 1992, can't say for sure.

I also got an email recently from a former 1SG of the unit that came across our blog. His name is John FitzGibbon and he was the 170th 1SG from June 2001 - April 2004. Obviously that is way after my time, so I did not know him. But he seemed like a good guy from the letter he sent me.

Go ahead and post the identity of your 1SG here, with dates if you remember them.

Angela,
A 1SG list is a good idea too. I will start another thread for that list.

Who was your Commander while at the 170th?

September 7, 2008 by mashmo

For the unit history section of the blog, I am working on a comprehensive list of all the people that have served as Company Commander at the 170th over the years. Use this thread to list who was commanding the unit while you were there. I will start the list off by saying that CPT Franck Trainor was the Commander while I was there (1991-1992). I also know that CPT Trainor had replaced CPT John Leggett and he was followed in 1992 by CPT Kyle Nickerson. Please add your CO to the list.

Hey Chris, thanks for checking in. I sent you an email tonight. I look forward to seeing those photos someday. So far we have only heard from McLaughlin and Murdaugh from your list above. If you know where those other guys are, be sure to invite them along.

I became aware of this video earlier this year but I believe that it was made in 2005. I do not know the MP's that made the video so I can't say for sure. At the end of the video it does show a building with the FEMA name on it.

Can You Identify These People?

August 26, 2008 by mashmo

This picture was taken during the deployment to Panama in 1989. Let me know if you can identify any of these guys. We have more photos to add to the photo section of the blog but would like to be able to list people by name if possible.

Hey Hirk,

Gordon is actually the one that reminded me of you. I will send him an email and let him know you are on the board now. Also, here is a picture we had of Gordie. I think the car is a Fairlane that he had in those days.
